Logistics and transport operations play a crucial role in the
installation services of the facade industry. This industry requires meticulous
coordination and management to ensure that materials, equipment, and skilled
labour are available when and where needed, minimizing downtime and ensuring a
smooth installation process.

movement: Ensuring the daily attendance of site operatives on remote sites or
where the public transport means are too expensive to be dealt with
individually is crucial for the smooth operation of any facade installation
project. We have the capacity to shift with our own people carrier fleet of up
to 30 operatives a day to 4 different remote locations while still being able
to deliver the required equipment, tool chests or access.
Our commitment
The majority of the services mentioned above are part of the standard
offering to our clients within the scope of our contracted installation
services. Our business strategy aims to improve project timeliness, cost
management, worker well-being, logistical coordination, and adherence to safety
and regulatory standards. Our goal is to meet and exceed client expectations
while fostering a productive, efficient, and safe working environment, thereby
contributing to the successful completion of each project.
Logistics and transport operations play a crucial role in the
installation services of the facade industry. This industry requires meticulous
coordination and management to ensure that materials, equipment, and skilled
labour are available when and where needed, minimizing downtime and ensuring a
smooth installation process.
We cover the following related services:
1. Transportation
Management
o
Horizontal distribution of
materials: Scheduling and distributing materials across large sites from compound
to work face or from sites with offsite yards or storage units (e.g., glass or
aluminium panels, metal frames, insulation). Our Network
Rail-compliant 2.7T goods trailer (platform size 3x1.7m ) can assist
with quickly moving/collecting/delivering the required materials when needed to
keep the labour teams supplied with the right quantity of materials.
o
Quick collection and deliveries: Towards
the end of each project time becomes an invaluable asset. Addressing
last-minute snags and site adaptions of materials for the interface areas
may require collection or delivery from and to paint or fabrication shops with
a quick turnaround to minimise labour standdown and facilitate the timely
closing of contracted works.
o Temporary
compounds: Especially when dealing with refurbishment projects with live occupants
on multiple blocks it is not always possible to establish secure hoardings to
keep materials and other sensible equipment safe overnight. We can load the
required materials on a daily basis from the main storage compound to keep
labour within close reach of them, shorten the daily travelling distances and
therefore speed up the installation process.
2. Warehousing
and Storage
o Temporary
Storage Solutions: We can
facilitate the temporary storage of facade materials at our warehouse facility
in the London (Dartford) area until they are needed for installation. This
serves as a buffer storage area when installation delays occur, allowing
fabricators to clear their compounds when the site has limited space. It offers
a cost-effective storage option for clients with projects outside their usual
business coverage area, reducing handling time and risk of damage while keeping
materials close enough for quick turnaround delivery to the site.
3. Inventory
Management: Logistics supervisors or managers can monitor facade material
inventory to ensure adequate stock levels and timely replenishment, preventing
delays caused by material shortages. This service is especially crucial when
various facade elements are temporarily removed and stored during remediation
works.
4. Access
Equipment
o
Powered Access: Our
in-house fleet of electric scissor lifts provides our workforce with access to
heights up to 6 meters, delivered to the site using our 3.5T plant trailer. We
can also transport them across large sites or public roads for immediate use,
eliminating the additional relocation costs typically charged by hiring
companies.
o
Conventional access: Depending
on the nature of the work, the height and accessibility requirements, and the
specific site conditions we can supply and deliver on-site mobile alu towers
ranging from 2.5m to 12m working platform, podium steps, delta decks and
hop-ups.
5. Site
storage solutions for tools and sensible materials: Effective
site storage solutions are essential for maintaining a safe, organized, and
efficient work environment. Proper storage of tools and sensitive materials
helps prevent accidents, protect valuable equipment, and ensure compliance
with health and safety regulations.
o
COSHH storage units: Ensures
compliance with COSHH regulations, protecting workers from exposure to harmful
substances.
o
Cabinets for storing PPE, HSE
Folder, First Aid equipment and consumables: Solution
for storing personal protective equipment (safety harnesses, span sets,
lanyards), health and safety documentation, first aid supplies, and consumable
items in a central, accessible location from the site. Keeps first aid supplies
and HSE documents accessible in case of an emergency, enabling prompt and
effective response.
o
Steel Glass stillages 2T SWL: Glass
metal A-frames stillages to be used for decanting, lifting operations,
temporary site storage, horizontal movement glass carriers with the use of
pallet trucks.
o
30xno Site tool chests: Providing
solutions to protect and secure sensible materials (fixings, handles, hinges,
various tapes), tools and equipment used on site from theft, damage, and
weather elements if they need to be stored on-site for extended periods.
Ensuring quick accessibility of these items also enhances workforce performance
and productivity, contributing to the smooth and safe operation of the
site.
6. Labour
movement: Ensuring the daily attendance of site operatives on remote sites or
where the public transport means are too expensive to be dealt with
individually is crucial for the smooth operation of any facade installation
project. We have the capacity to shift with our own people carrier fleet of up
to 30 operatives a day to 4 different remote locations while still being able
to deliver the required equipment, tool chests or access. Here there are a few
advantages this service can offer to our clients:
o
Project Timeliness and
Efficiency: Regular and reliable attendance of site operatives ensures that work
progresses according to the project schedule, minimizing delays.
o
Cost Management: Organizing
transportation for site operatives can be more cost-effective than having each
worker manage their own travel, especially in remote areas. By ensuring workers
arrive and leave on time, the need for overtime due to delayed starts or
extended travel times is reduced.
o
Logistical Coordination: Through
our labour movement flexibility and centralised control, we allow for
adjustments in transportation arrangements as per the project’s evolution,
ensuring that the right number of workers are available as required.
o
Attracting and retaining talent: Retaining
skilled operatives is critical for the success and efficiency of any
construction or facade installation project. Skilled operatives bring
experience, expertise, and consistency to the workplace, significantly
contributing to project quality, safety, and overall performance.
o
Expanded Service Coverage: Ultimately
our services extend to a broader area from our base location, ensuring repeat
business and fostering stronger continuity with our existing clients. By
consistently delivering high-quality works across our projects, we also enhance
our market reputation and client satisfaction, increasing the likelihood of
them returning for future projects and recommending our services to others.
