Project Name: University of Bristol TQEC
Facade Contractor: FKN FASSADEN GmbH
Main Contractor: Sir Robert McAlpine
Our scope of work:
Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC) is a flagship development that
brings the University of Bristol to the commercial centre of the city, to the
east of Brunel’s iconic Temple Meads station, to anchor it in the economic
renaissance and renewal of Bristol and the wider city-region. TQEC will provide
the space to reimagine the University’s role as one of the world’s great civic
universities, empowering and enabling a transformed relationship with the city
region, its businesses, communities, and government.
Our team was entrusted with creating the Safe System of Works for safely
undertaking the contracted scope of works, managing the coordination of works
on site and in the yard, and dealing with part of the logistic management and
access equipment.
Main works involves installing the main Atrium Rooflight and two
secondary Rooflights along with their supporting steel sub-framing. Due to the
winter period, the roof light screens will be built in sections off-site and
lifted in place on their final position completing the high level of the 30m+
main internal atrium. Euro cladding panel system will enclose the 5m Atriums
overrun walls and the resulting enclosure must adhere to a tight pressure
testing handover process. The cladding package will include a gutter system and
balustrades that will link the saw-tooth style roof light screens.
