Client: Levolux
Project Name: Princess Square Shopping Centre, Bracknell
Developer: Bracknell Forest Council & Partners
Main Contractor: Knight Harwood
Our scope of work:
In this project, we played a pivotal role in revitalizing the dated 1980s shopping centre, Princess Square, transforming it into a contemporary, luminous space tailored to accommodate new retailers while refreshing the facades for existing ones. Our primary task involved creating the focal point of the concourse: an impressive ceiling adorned with vibrant feature lighting. We were tasked with assembling and suspending 12 rings of illuminated aluminum extruded boxes, crafting a visually striking centrepiece. Despite facing challenges such as the absence of physical grids and the need to maintain the pyramid's squareness within the soffit perimeter, we persevered. Working during the night, when the shopping centre was closed, allowed electrical engineers to wire the LEDs as we progressed with each ring installation. Arguably, the most demanding aspect was executing the installation flawlessly in one attempt, ensuring alignment with the project schedule and completing the entire endeavour efficiently.
