Horlicks Quarter - DGU replacement

Our scope of works:

• Contract lift for the replacement of two large damaged double-glazed units
• Full logistics management, including delivery of equipment and controlled movement of new and removed glass units on site
• Development of a detailed Safe System of Work and Lift Plan
• Provision of all required lifting and access equipment
• Supply of skilled operatives and site supervision to safely execute the works

We were pleased to be invited back to one of our previous projects to undertake this specialist glass replacement within a public-facing area, where safety, coordination, and precision were critical. The works were carefully planned and executed, with particular attention given to public interface management, lifting operations, and risk mitigation. As a result, the replacement was completed safely, efficiently, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders involved. Our in-house lifting solution included the use of a Glassboy 500 Floor Crane, paired with a customisable Kappel DSKEB2 vacuum lifter. The lifter was adapted with additional suction pads to improve load distribution and minimise stress concentrations on the damaged units, reducing the risk of further cracking during handling.
