Built in the 1830s, London Bridge is the oldest train station in London and one of the oldest in the world.

A major component of the £7bn Thameslink Programme involved the redevelopment and reconfiguration of London Bridge Station. It was one of the most complex and ambitious rail station redevelopments in the UK, including complex multi-staged infrastructure realignment and the complete rebuild of London Bridge station while maintaining operations.

The aim of the £1bn station design and construction project has been to fully remodel the station, add new platforms and a vast new concourse, designed to provide a significant improvement to the passenger experience. It was expected to increase the number of passengers from 42 million to between 50 and 75 million people a year.
