Project Name: John Radcliffe Hospital - Glazing Replacement
Developer: Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Main Contractor: Equans UK & Ireland
Our scope of work:
We supported our trusted client with the planning and execution of a complex curtain wall glass replacement at John Radcliffe Hospital. The works involved replacing several damaged double-glazed units within a very tight programme of just two night shifts. One key requirement was to be fully self-sufficient in tools and site logistics, ensuring the completion of works within the given time. The most critical milestone was the installation of a factory-sealed structural glass corner unit — a task made possible using a specially designed counterbalanced lifting beam corner supplied by AMCH, given the lack of internal building access. All works were carried out overnight to minimise disruption to the hospital’s daily operations, including emergency services, while managing lifts at heights of up to 20m.
